Influence of substance (ab)use.
Ephemera is an observation of the psychological and sociocultural dimensions of substance abuse. The central figure holds a Xanax tablet, commonly associated with opioid addiction. A teardrop tattoo questions the origin of addiction and its frequent correlation with unresolved trauma and loss.

Influence of social media.
Two observations on existence and self. René Descartes' 17th-century proposition "I think, therefore I am" positioned rational thought as the essential proof of being. Barbara Kruger's 1987 work "I shop therefore I am" reframed this philosophy through consumerism, critiquing capitalist tendencies that define value and agency.
"I post therefore I am" rennovates these observations in a digital age, where existence is increasingly affirmed through acts of online visibility. Self, once rooted in introspection and later in consumption, now depends on continuous public self-performance within digital economies of attention.

Influence of government spending.
Assembly Line examines the aesthetics of wartime propaganda through the lens of contemporary resource allocation. A once patriotic call to arms, now echoes through the machinery of a nation that funds conflict while its own citizens collapse beneath it. Homelessness and addiction rampant, not as anomalies but as predictable outcomes of increasing militarization. Observation of national endurance measured in expenditure, a strength defined by ignorance.

Influence of companionship.
Physical confrontation is a proxy of deeper emotional conflict. Two figures in hand to hand combat; a timeless ritual of rivalry for affection, possession, and companionship.

Influence of foreign intervention.
Portable authority that travels faster than accountability. Foreign intervention is framed as a repeating transaction: crisis is declared, action is authorized, and violence is laundered into necessity while the language stays clean.
Oil pools as material evidence, collapsing “resource” into “asset” and exposing motive beneath rhetoric. The composition degrades toward illegibility, echoing how interventions fade from public attention even as their consequences harden on the ground. Scarring, displacement, extraction, destabilization.

Aluminum sculpture

burner is a modern absurdist sculpture as response to a premise that should not be necessary: attention now requires protection.
A critique of digital authoritarianism. Its most basic function is a housing for the Apple Watch, but philosophically it is moderation.
As a mirror, it exposes what participants are subconcious of.
Time thins, depth collapses, meaning bleeds. By reusing existing technology and re-evaluating as an autonomous object, the burner suggests a reachable alternative to the default device, and a return to presence as something not only desired, but designed.
